Description
"Fin du Monde" translates to "End of the world", likely referring in this case to the Finistere department of Britanny, France, situated at the tip of the peninsula. It has long been referred to as "the end of the world" as its relatively remote location and rough terrain aren't as tourist friendly as other scenic parts of France. Here, Ann Chassar Dallas depicts a Breton market day with women selling their wares, wearing traditional Breton costume. Ann Chassar Dallas was a painter and lithographer who exhibited at Redfern Gallery and NEAC in London. She has a lithograph of Siamese kittens in Collection of British Council.
