WHAT ARE FINE PRINTS?
When we at the Annex Galleries refer to fine prints and printmakers, we are talking about original prints pulled from a matrix (the copperplate, the stone, the woodblock, the screen, etc.) in a design that was conceived of, drawn, and executed on said matrix by an artist, which is then printed by themselves or in close collaboration with a Master printer onto paper, using a press, a baren, or a screen. Unlike giclees, which replicate - not create - an original piece of art, fine prints always retain the human element. Below are several informative links to give you an idea of what goes into making a variety of fine prints.

CATALOGUE RAISONNE LINKS
Links to the complete or near-complete, professionally compiled lists of individual artists' printed works. These are often compiled by academics, but occasionally are put together by dealers who represent an artist's estate or otherwise have access to their works in order to catalog them. They often take years to complete.
