Mueller depicts two older men walking arm in arm, each with canes and heavy coats protecting from the cold, one smoking a cigar. Passing them by are a speeding cyclist - whose scarf shoots out behind him - and a bird in mid-flight.

Mueller refrains from using too much texture, pairing down the scene into an uncluttered, simple observation of a moment, expertly creating the feeling of two old friends enjoying a slow and comfortable walk in the midst of a world going quickly by.
