Description
Maria de Los Angeles was born on August 2, 1988 in Mexico, and she immigrated to the United States in 1999. She eraned her MFA in Painting at Yale University in 2012. Maria has worked in various mediums including oil, acrylic, etching, woodcut, drawing and sculpture, and focuses on figurative and abstract works that give voice to the cultures wit hwhich she identifies. Here, a Posada-like image is printed in a pale beige ink against cream paper, lending a ghostly quality to the image a seated, grieving woman being comforted by Death, folkloric animals and spirits, and a child.
