Description
This impression is a proof in the first state. The image consists of 4 vignettes and this impression has the red collector's stamp of Albert Marioni (Lugt 150b) in the lower left corner. It is also from the estate of author, museum director and collector Michael Wentworth (1938-2002) who wrote the catalogue raisonné on James Tissot. His stamp is on the lower right (not in Lugt).
The image in the upper left is a promotion for the Giacomo Meyerbeer opera 'Robert le Diable' and the horizontal image on the upper right is for verdi's opera of 'Attila.' The other two vignettes are not identified.
