This rare proof is from the first state, before the artist added his initials to the block at the upper right, at the door's bottom. The subject is the artist's daughter Elizabeth, born in 1914 (called 'Liesbeth') and her two cats, Martin and Igor. This impression is dedicated "Proof for Helene."
