Description
Max Pollak used all of San Francisco as his muse - the overview, the streets, the bridges, the neighborhoods and the architectural masterpieces.
"Tempel Emanu-el" is located at 2 Lake Street (at Arguello) in San Francisco, near the Presidio. It was designed by Arthur Brown, Jr., who helped design the Bay Bridge. Brown was inspired by the Haggia Sophia in Istanbul.
The building was dedicated in 1926 and in 1927, the American Institute of Architects selected Temple Emanu-El as the finest piece of architecture in Northern California. Pollak did this etching around 1953.
