Description
This impression is titled by the artist in pencil on the verso. This color woodcut is not in the Miles raisonne. It depicts a large Buddha, carved in relief, at night. Though Buddhism was banned in Korea many monuments remained, including this, outside of Seoul. It is probable that the blocks for this image were lost in the 1923 Tokyo earthquake, which destroyed Watanabe's studio.
