Description
In a note to a collector Millier commented on 'Sleeping Poet': "Where all the prints of it are, I don't know. But it is my choice for Millier's best etching, I suppose because it made itself. The old Los Angeles Plaza was a beautiful and human place in those days. I believe the plate was made in 1922. I drew everything on the plate in the Plaza just as it happened. When I got it back to my room at First and Broadway I felt that something more was needed and just drew in the sleeper. He looked like a poet, hence the title." Arthur Millier, August 26, 1971.
