Description
Joors is best known for his oil paintings, but he was also an accomplished intaglio printmaker who trained under Flemish engraver Jean Baptiste Michiels when he was still a teenager. This work shows evidence of his process with pencilled lines and notes (now illegible) in the margins. The work is printed on what looks like an early prototype of contemporary cardboard: a pulpy, textured, unbleached wove that is thick, soft, and sturdy. These elements suggest that this impression is a working proof.
