Description
Fritz Klimsch was born February 10, 1870 in Frankfurt, Germany. He studied drawing and modeling in Berlin where he was greatly influenced by the work of August Rodin and Adolf von Hildebrand, as well as his trips to Italy and Greece. It is said that Klimisch admired Rodin's expression in form and liveliness of his figures, and took that with the contrast of Hildebrand's static construction. Klimsch sought balance in his work between all these great influences, which can be seen in his many portraits, monuments, and sculptures - popular subjects being female nudes and distinguished figures. In his works, particularly of his female nudes, he often portrayed feelings of truth and beauty. Klimsch died on March 30, 1960 in Freiburg, Germany.
