Common bird's nest is a distinctive woodland fungus that looks like a bird's nest. In the nest are tiny flattened spheres which look like eggs. These spheres are small capsules which house the spores. Birds nest fungus is found in rich, healthy soil and they are beneficial because they decompose unwanted organic matter in your backyard.
