Description
"Judah's Ear" is an edible fungus that grows on elder trees. It is also known as wood ear or jelly ear. These fungi are brown, gelatinous, and have an ear-like shape. Its specific epithet is derived from the belief that Judas Iscariot hanged himself from an elder tree. In temperate regions, these fungi can be found throughout the year and growing upon both dead and living wood.
