Description
Velma Adams' work is discussed and shown on pages 6 and 7 of volume I in Emerging from the Shadows: A Survey of Women Artists Working in California, 1860-1960.
Done late in the artist's career this graphic still life image uses black and grays to create the image, a Notan approach, using the white of the paper as contrast. The tabletop and chairs blend together leaving the eye of the viewer to create the separations.
