Brown was known for his work with the Bay Area Figurative Movement, a group of artists whose work during the 1960s was marked by broad, tonal strokes and gestural figurative studies. Brown's industrial landscape highlights the artist's later career, still in keeping with his early pursuits but now more refined. An imposing structure is softened by evening light and muted tones.
