Description
This small color woodcut, "Le Nid, Coree" is the 2nd out of 16 Surimono prints. The large print is Miles 80
During the late 1940's and 1950's, Jacoulet published 16 miniature prints referred to as surimonos. "Orchidees Blanches Jauit" and "La Cruche, Mongolie" were both original designs, while the others were smaller copies of already popular limited editions prints, printed from the same number of blocks as the full size compositions. Jacoulet's surimono prints were produced in large unlimited editions for use as inexpensive souvenirs or holiday cards.
Many of these small designs are difficult to find today and are sought after by Jacoulet collectors.
