Description
Goya did the plates for the "Disparates" around 1816 - 20. Working proofs were pulled of some but it was in 1848 that some unevenly printed posthumous prints were pulled. This first well printed edition of 18 plates was in 1864 by the Academia, published as "Los Proverbios" This impression is from that first edition. It has the collector's stamp of A. Maroni (L150b) in red ink in the left margin. There were at least 8 subsequent editions up til 1937 on differednt papers and varying quality of printing.
