Description
Arnold Bray was a painter and etcher who was born in Odessa, Russia on Feb. 22, 1892. Bray settled in San Francisco with his family in 1902 and he studied art at the CSFA and taught at that school around 1917. He assisted Lucien Labaudt in the frescoes at the Beach Chalet (San Francisco) where Labaudt painted a portrait of Bray into the mural.
For 40 years he was a draftsman at Kaiser Shipyards while residing in San Francisco, California. His work includes scenes of the San Francisco Bay area, portraits and landscapes. He exhibited at the San Francisco Art Association from 1923-1931, and the California Industries Expo in San Diego in 1926.
He died at a convalescent hospital in Fairfield, CA on June 28, 1972.
