Description
Baumann’s holiday card for 1958, offers a nice place to ponder over the New Year. The imagery relates to his color woodcut from 1936, Quiet Corner. This patio scene reappears in his self-published pamphlet from 1949 Gus Baumann Sketch Booklet. Another linear impression was planned to be included in Baumann’s block book Woodcut Impressions of New Mexico. There exists a mock-up for the book and Baumann inscribed the impression: A German Garden — Velarde, N.M.
