Description
Gustave Baumann created numerous floral studies in gouache and graphite. For this Iris study, he cropped the image into an octagon format by embellishing the border with a series of black dots on gold. This is painted on the gray-brown wove paper Baumann used for his gouaches and pastels and is from the Gustave Baumann estate. This work is unsigned as were most of his gouache studies.
