Description
Rheum foliis cordatis glabris, marginibus sinuatis, spicis divisis, is plate CCXVIII from Figures of the Most Beautiful, Useful, and Uncommon Plants, The Gardener's Dictionary.
Rheum foliis cordatis glabris, marginibus sinuatis, spicis divisis, was engraved by J.S. Miller after a drawing by Richard Lancake and it was published in a folio as a follow-up to Miller’s The Gardener’s Dictionary, which was not fully illustrated. This was a major botanical work by Philip Miller (1691-1771) who was the chief gardener at the Chelsea Physic Garden and a member of the Botanic Academy of Florence.
There were 300 engraved plates (mostly hand-colored) after various artists, including Lancake.
