Description
Ida Bagus Made Terang - also known as Ida Bagus Made Poleng, Ida Bagus Made Tebesaya, and Gus Made - was a preeminant traditional Balinese painter of the 20th century. He was known for his advocacy for the preservation of traditional styles and techniques in the face of mounting tourism in the 1920s and '30s. He stopped exhibiting in 1945 and withdrew from public art scenes until 1998, when he allowed his work to be shown at the Darga Gallery in Saur, Ubud, Bali.
