From a San Francisco estate which included a number of items related to Russian Imperial General d'Osnobichine, who was a friend of Villa's and was himself an artist. Of particular note is that there existed in this collection three versions of this same portrait by Villa. It's unknown if the sitter was a friend or simply a woman whose side profile he was especially taken with.
