This pencil and watercolor wash drawing was done by British artist Arthur Stewart who was born in London in 1877. He studied art at the Westminster School and at the Westminster School of Art with William Mouat Loudan. Known primarily as a classical painter of historical scenes he also did some illustration, including posters. Stewart became a member of the Royal British Academy in 1899. Arthur Stewart died in London in 1941.
