Description
Michael Malbry is a San Francisco-based graphic and fine artist and designer who works in printmaking, painting, and asssemblage. His career is rooted in San Francisco Postmodernism, also referred to as the "Pacific New Wave" of the 1980s and '90s. His work often features typography, as seen in the layered imagery of "Indigo Man." Strips of what looks like newsprint in Chinese and Latin characters shoot across the background, and a numerical chart gives the man's shirt its pattern. In the bottom of the image the artist has written in the stone: "An indigo man walking his burnt orange wire-haired terrier on a sunny tangerine afternoon."
