Description
A nocturnal scene of a steam engine passing through a Midwest industrial hub, a grain elevator in the background. From about 1925 to 1943 Cames lived Laramie, Wyoming with her husband Louis, a roadmaster for Laramie North Park and Western Railroad, and in the latter half of her time there Cames worked as an artist for the WPA. Two of her best known lithographs feature trains at night, and it can safely be assumed that the cinematic drama of her husband's vocation was part of her inspiration.
