Description
Memory of the Dark was illustrated on the cover of the catalogue for the annual exhibition of the San Francisco Art Association in 1942. It is also listed as catalogue no. 140. We discovered that we have a preparatory drawing for this image so please look at inventory number 20024. The drawing was stamped by the artist’s daughter, Estate of Barbara Olmsted, so we illustrate it on the website with this stamp in the lower left. When we flipped the image, however, we could see the relationship of lines and masses.
