Description
An image of the Yaqina Bay Bridge on U.S. Highway 101 in Newport, Oregon. Belzman was living in Portland, Oregon at the time of this printing and was likely drawn to the through-arch bridge on an excursion to the coast. Here he shows the steep approch from the south where the curved, green-painted arch is flanked by obelisk-like finials. The sky is a bright, totally clear blue, unusual for the region as it is usually shrouded in fog or cloud cover. The bridge was built in 1936 and features the Art Deco and Gothic decor seen on many bridges of the same era, including the St. John's Bridge and the Golden Gate.
