Description
Many of the drawings Max Pollak did during his time as a war artist for the Austrian Army were during the First World War; as such, names of places, often translated from their original language into German by the artist, are often no longer in use or have been altered to accomodate the drastically changing maps of European boundaries during the 20th century. Judging by their costume, these two women are of Germanic descent. One holds a book and the other a kerchief; they may be on their way to church.
