Diego Rivera was captured by Emmy Lou Packard playing with his pet spider monkey which he kept at their studio in San Angel. Frida Kahlo surrounded herself with pets, including this spider monkey named 'Fulang Chang, given to her as a gift by Rivera and used in one of her self portraits.
Emmy Lou gave this photograph to Mildred Consadine in 1984 as a gift with a note, her studio stamp and a copyright symbol and "all rights reserved."
