Prentiss Taylor did this modernist abstaction near the end of his long printmaking career. The Rose & Quiroz catalog raisonné "The Lithographs of Prentiss Taylor" notes about this image:
"The artist's only non-figurative print. Taylor commented that he created the miniature because 'I like the idea of doing something mischievous.'"
