Description
Mexican artist, anthropologist, linguist, and scholar of Mayan culture Alfredo Barrera Vásquez (1900-1980) wrote Poema en Cinco Puntos Cardinales in 1937, when it was first published as a text-only book. In 1948 a proposed illustrated version was completed but wasn't published, and fell into obscurity. According to the colophon, Yucatan governor Carlos Loret de Mola Mediz revived the book with a version illustrated by Fernando Castro Pacheco in 1976.
