Description

This impression is from the Peace Portfolio I (12 works).

These prints were published in 1970 by the Academic and Professional Action Committee for a Responsible Congress. The original purpose of the portfolio was to raise money for "the politics of peace," and proceeds were distributed to candidates in the 1970 election committed to ending the Vietnam War and for the return of social and racial justice in the United States.

In his preface for the portfolio, Harold Rosenberg wrote, “Through [this collection of prints] art overcomes its silence by placing megaphones in the hands of peace candidates.”

The artists included: 1. D’Arcangelo; 2. Ferber; 3. Gottlieb; 4. Hayter; 5. Krasner; 6. Lassow; 7. Motherwell; 8. Ortman; 9. Rauschenberg; 10. Steinberg; 11. Vicente; 12. Zox.
