	Description
This woodcut is a deathbed portrait of musician, teacher, composer and organist Clemens Braun (1862-1933) who Felixmuller knew in Dresden. It is quite rare, it was not editioned and has not appeared at auction in recent years.
This impression is annotated to Professor Hans Alexander Muller, also a printmaker. It is dated May 9, 1933. Muller is noted artist and one of Felixmuller's friends in Leipzig. The print was folded in half, perhaps at printing, perhaps by Mulller when he moved to the U.S. It has been reinforced on the verso.
As an avant-garde, Expressionist artist, Felixmuller was reviled by the Nazis who included his works in the 1933 and 1937 German exhibits of "degenerate" art.
