Francis Dodd is most noted for his drypoint portraits of artist colleagues and of the ordinary people he encountered in daily life, and for his over 100 architectural studies. "At the Fireside" is his 37th print, done in 1908. He did this print in 4 states with a total edition of 39 impressions. This impression is from the 4th state. It was originally sold by the Vixseboxse Art Galleries, Inc. 2258 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland 15, Ohio. The old label also has typewritten notes: "'At the Fireside' Original etching by Francis Dodd."
