In April and May of 1912 German artist Robert Sterl traveled to Russia on a second Volga tour with Sergei Kussewitzky and his orchestra. In August, when this print was done he spent the month on the North Frisian island of Amrum, a German island in the North Sea.
This lithograph shows three porters with their backs bowed beneath the loads they are carrying. The annotation in the stone in the lower right probably refers to the ship and the date Sterl did the drawing.
