This is a hand colored aquatint by James A. Merigot and was published by Merigot and Robert Edwards (1768-1827) in London in 1798 as a portfolio titled: "A SELECT COLLECTION OF VIEWS AND RUINS IN ROME AND ITS VICINITY; EXECUTED FROM DRAWINGS MADE UPON THE SPOT IN THE YEAR 1791" The portfolio consisted of 59 plates, printed on J. Whatman paper. Each image has a typeset title and the publication line, which in this case, reads: "London, Pub’d Oct’r 1st 1796,J. Merigot No 28 Haymarket, & R. Edwards 142 New Bond Street.” The Temple of Vesta is probably an ancient Latin or Etruscan shrine dedicate to the worship of the goddess Vesta. The architecture is Greek in style with Corinthian columns. It is located in Rome.
