Description
"Nude" was orignially cut in 1953. It was printed in an edition of 20 in black, 20 in green, 20 in blue and black and 25 in gray. In 1960 it was again printed in blue in an edition of 500, published by Art in Amerca Society. The early editions are pencil signed on the right margin and editioned on the left. This edition is pencil signed and dated "1960" in the left margin Avery, who printed his own work, experimented with his color woodcuts and there are variations in impressions in all his editions. This impression, like the early edition, was printed using heavy pressure in order to emphasis the white areas which are three dimensional. The paper used, a cream, japon paper, wrinkled when it dried and every impression has these creases.
