Description
A large gray figure, created by impressing fabric into the soft ground, dominates the center of this composition. The background is a line of trees in the shape of a dead end street, or question mark? An impression of this was exhibited in New York titled “The Negro and the Trees” in the 1944 exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art: Hayter and Studio 17; #44.
