Description
Chicago based artist Fred Rappaport studied art in his native Vienna. Transplanted to Chicago he studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. After a multi-career life (see the biography above) he began in the late 1950's and 60's to work more abstractly than his earlier representational imagery. This large print combines color woodcut and stencil for its frenetic yet ancient look. It may well represent old Israel where Rappaport spent a lot of time.
