Description
This impression is annotated on verso in ink: "This etching was given to me by the artist: Stanley W. Hayter - done in the fifties. Claire Falkenstein" Printmaker Falkenstein studied with Hayter at Atelier 17. The annotation does not show through to the recto. This is one of 10 Hors Commerce impressions.
The edition was printed on a handmade, oatmeal Lauriet paper, which tended to stretch and wrinkle in the printing process. The printing was done by Hayter and Atelier 17 and was published by L'Oeuvre Gravée, Zurich in an edition of 200. Colors varied throughout the editioning.
