Description
The son of a great American porcelain-maker in Limoges, Paul Burty Haviland (1880-1950) was, while in New York, between 1908 and 1915, an influential member of the Photo-Secession. A faithful ally of Alfred Stieglitz in his struggle for the acknowledgment of photography and modern art, he himself left a body of high quality photographic works yet to be widely published and essentially composed of portraits, nudes and cityscapes.
