Description

Albert S. Rogell (1901-1988) was an American film director, producer, and writer. He directed over 100 films between 1921 and 1958, including The Wrecker (1933), Air Hawks (1935), In Old Oklahoma (1943), and Heaven Only Knows (1947). Rogell was born in Spokane, Washington, and began working for the Washington Motion Picture Company at fifteen years old. After the company faced financial ruin he moved south to Los Angeles where he worked in at a number of jobs before working with the director George Loane Tucker. After Tucker’s death, Rogell was hired by producer Sol Lesser to direct shorts. In 1950, after producing a number of "B" movies, Rogell moved to television. He was known for his aggressive directing style, shouting at his actors and crews.
