Description
The artist who designed the original poster for the Climax sewing machine company remains unidentified. In the upper left of the advertisement are the American and French flags and two gold medals, with text reading "Diplome d'Honneur / Anvers 1894" (Diploma of Honor, Antwerp, 1894). The late 18th century saw a surge in the production of domestic machines such as sewing machines. At the time, Climax rivaled Singer in leading the market.
