Description
After the advertising poster for the Cabourg resort, close to Paris and a popular destination for tourists at the time, designed by Swiss artist Edouard Elzingre. Highlighting its casino, theater, concerts, dances, and more, it is a classic Belle Epoque tourism promotion. Of particular significance is the representation of the central couple's Victorian bathing attire. Women were rarely depicted in their swimsuits, as it was considered too racy - despite the fact that the woolen get-ups still covered the majority of their bodies. Koenigsegg's faithful copy in miniature of Elzingre's poster preserves the balance struck by French fashion's embrace of late Victorian titillation.
