Description

After a Belle Epoque-era travel advertisement for Chemins de fer (railways) to Arcachon Bay, France. As was popular at the time, the seaside resort and spa highlighted its many health and entertainment offerings, from leisure sports to a music hall, a casino to sea bathing, and more. Arcachon Bay (or Basin) is located on the southwest coast of France, along the shores of the Atlantic. The municipality of Arcachon was established by Emporer Napoleon III in 1857, as the railway from Bordeaux to the bay was finished. It remains a popular travel destination today.

The original artist, who signed Geache, remains unidentified.
