Description
After the original poster for Les Sables d'Olonne seaside resort and spa. The text loosely translates to: "Seaside resort of Sables d'Olonne, the most beautiful beach in Europe." The port city is located on the southern coastline of France between La Rochelle and Saint-Nazaire. In the lower half of the advertisement is a depiction of the Casino Theatre, built in 1876. Unfortunately it was destroyed by bombing during World War II and never rebuilt.
The original artist, Henri Lanos (French: 1859-1929) was a painter and illustrator known for his often provacative socialist magazine covers and for his science fiction and detective novel illustrations.
