Having already developed an airbrush stencil technique in the 1930s, William Hentschel developed another innovative technique in 1953, again using stencils, but this time utilizing gelatin brayers of different sizes and softness and printing with oil-based ink (later, water-based with rubber rollers as well). He would cut around 10 stencils to create an image. Each print is unique with this method.
