Biography

Printmaker and painter Susana de Quadros was born in Peru in 1945. She studied in Lima and then in Ottowa, Canada before settling in Washington, D.C. in the late 1970s. There, she studied under Ann Zahn whose Printmakers' Studio workshop became one of the foremost in Washington, D.C. Zahn also founded the Washington Printmakers Calendar for which de Quadros was a participant for fifteen years. She began exhibiting regularly in the capitol beginning in the early 1980s. While printmaking has remained a leading focus, de Quadros incorporated oil painting into her oeuvre in the early 2000s. 

De Quadros is currently a member of Group 93, a professional artist critique group based in Washington, D.C., and with whom de Quadros continues to exhibit each year at American University's Katzen Arts Center. She has exhibited throughout the U.S. and in Argentina, Peru, and Costa Rica. Her work is included in the Library of Congress' print collection and in the Smithsonian Libraries.
