David Best was born in 1945 and he studied painting, ceramics, and sculpture at the San Francisco Art Institute in the mid 1970s. Among his professors was Sam Tchakalian. He currently lives in California and is known for his monumental plywood temples, built to be burned at the Burning Man festival and elsewhere.
